Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “The Skeleton Crew” plus more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neil’s younger siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family sees in the infamous Star Wars holiday special (1978). Featured in Crazy Cartoon Lineup: Stupid Old Deadly Bear from AniMat (2022). I watched the first two episodes, and while there’s clearly an attempt to make a “babies in space” show, what’s wrong with that? It’s a completely different take on the story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I liked how it felt like a suburban town in this world, because we’ve never seen it before. The town they’re from reminded me more of the area from Alien than anything we’ve seen on the show lately. The four main characters are typical but likable, each with their own distinct roles in the group, and the actors play them well. The pirate vibe isn’t necessarily what we’ve seen before, and it adds a bit of a sinister element and an air of danger. If it were an ’80s movie, it would fit perfectly. So far, I’m enjoying the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the nostalgic nods to the movies from my childhood, and the fact that I can share this Star Wars experience with my kids.
